Only Congress can declare war on another nation. That is our law, stated in the US Constitution, and for good reason. Our forefathers knew the nature of men in power. There are always those who scheme that they, or their friends, can benefit from war. Killing-wars are economic vehicles, but the cost to us is cumulative. War-power has been stolen from our elected representatives and handed to political leaders, including our current Chief Executive. “Police Action” has replaced killing-wars in our leaders’ vocalbulary. We Hold These Truths is pleased to stand with and support this demand for peace. – Editor CEC
62 ORGANIZATIONS TO CONGRESS: HALT A MARCH TO WAR WITH IRAN
Washington, D.C. – In light of President Trump and John Bolton’s dangerous escalations against Iran and a forthcoming intelligence briefing on Capitol Hill this afternoon, 62 organizations – including J Street, Indivisible, NIAC Action and Win Without War – sent a letter calling on Congress to pass legislation to halt a march to war with Iran.
The combined groups, representing millions of Americans concerned about renewed threats of war with Iran, signals a strong desire for Congress to step up and block Trump from leading America into yet another war of choice.
