WHTT contributes this thought as an introduction to pastor Chuck Baldwin’s observations:
Recently our President announced that our government, being once again out to money, is going ahead with borrowing up to a $trillion to pay its bills until year’s end. We now learn from Chuck Baldwin that this borrowing includes funding for Planned Parenthood’s abortion clinics. We Hold These Truths agrees with Pastor Baldwin that attaching an abortion funding bill to a “Defense” Appropriation Bill is an abuse of American taxpayers. We the People are morally responsible for our debts, but we are told we must finance war costs with borrowed dollars because “war is a necessity.” We, however, say that war is nothing more than a politically-chosen option in the Middle East, no single country therehaving seriously threatened the USA.
Those of us who do not believe in U.S.Trumped-up wars in the Middle East or elsewhere, are asked to get ready for the next one, probably planned for Iran. The public funding of a private organization existing for the stated purpose of eliminating unborn babies, is on a similar level of abuse. Even if one is convinced that abortion should be a personal decision, as many, even in US churches believe – – most, we think, without ever really thinking the procedure through – – taxpayers should not be forced to fund it. If we counseled with Jesus, we think He would plead “no” to abortion. Keep in mind that this practice was almost unknown in Jesus’ time. On the other hand, He did leave us these words: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.”
Our elected representatives should be told not to add the blood of babies to their war budget, a provision they try to justify by labeling it “defense”. To put it mildly, neither war nor abortion should be accepted as “a business necessity” to be funded with borrowed, taxpayer dollars! – Chuck Carlson
Pastor Chuck Baldwin in his September 27 Letter, tells us:
The GOP Continues To Fully Fund Planned Parenthood
; Christians and conservatives who think that the GOP and Donald Trump are pro-life are deluded beyond all remedy. A GOP Congress and White House can’t even defund Planned Parenthood, much less overturn Roe v Wade. Trump’s two years in office now marks a total of six years of a Republican majority in control of the White House and both houses of Congress (four years of GOP control under GW Bush and now two years under Trump), and Roe v Wade still stands as the law of the land, and Planned Parenthood continues to slaughter unborn babies with taxpayer funding.
Pastor Baldwin goes on to quotes : CNSNews.com reports:
The Republican-controlled Congress is moving to enact a Defense appropriations bill that has morphed into a multi-agency “minibus” and continuing resolution that funds Planned Parenthood and research that uses fetal tissue taken from aborted babies.
The version of the Labor-HHS-Education bill that was approved by the House Appropriations Committee on July 11—but never brought up for a vote on the House floor—defunded both Planned Parenthood and federal research that uses tissue taken from aborted babies.
The version of the Labor-HHS-Education bill approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee on June 28 permitted funding of Planned Parenthood and research that uses tissue taken from aborted babies.
By joining the Defense Department funding bill to the Senate Appropriations Committee’s version of the Labor-HHS-Education bill, the Republican leadership made it impossible for a senator to vote against funding Planned Parenthood and fetal tissue research without also voting against funding the Defense Department.
Sen. Rand Paul (R.-Ky.) fought to get a vote on an amendment to the bill that would defund Planned Parenthood.
Before the Republican leadership agreed to such a vote, Paul needed to go to the floor to speak out about what was happening.
“My amendment would end the funding of Planned Parenthood,” Paul said. “Yet my amendment is now being blocked by Republicans.”
