Signs of the Great Turning, ending our age of Serial Wars II

The Great Turning may have seemed optimistic when written March 18, 2003, but much of it is now a fact, so we republish it, with a few post-scripts.

Quoting from the original:  “Americans are not only turning away from war and they will soon turn from those who make war.  And we are beginning to look for those whom we should blame. This turning about is at first ponderous, like that of an ocean-going liner. But once started, it will be unstoppable. Gathering momentum, it will crash through anything in its path, even icebergs of ignorance. The strange and diverse anti-war movement is only a symptom of awakening of a much greater slumbering mass of human energy soon to be brought to bear.” 

Your author erred four years ago in believing and stating that the Republican party would not have the nerve to offer George W. Bush a second term in 2004, so well understood were the metastasizing sins of his first term.  Bush’s role in openly promoting an attack upon Iraq on false evidence was getting media attention.  And beneath the surface there was and is still a growing scientific knowledge that before Day 911 three World Trade Center buildings had to have been mined for demolition.  His own Republican party should have buried Mr. Bush in self-defense, but it did not.

Instead of dumping Bush on the garbage heap of history, along with his sins, as all logic would dictate, the Neo-cons who control him chose to stick with him in 2004.  Theirs was an error of arrogance that is  now tarring every Republican who supported Bush on anything he did.  The first fire storm was the Democrat congressional sweep of 2006, only a precursor of the storm that will take place in election 2008, when even more Bush-truths are understood, and only those standing for re-election will pay for his acts as he term limits out to the Ranch.

The November 2006 congressional elections demonstrated that a significant minority of the evangelicals voted for Democrats, breaking with the solid Christian Right for the first time in a long time.  So powerful was the move that warmaking, Israeli Patriot Joseph Lieberman, with his vast support, had to run as an independent (not a Republican) in order to be returned to Congress from Connecticut.  This author is not suggesting that voting for Democrats is an answer to our countries woes, only that the key Christian-Zionist super-minority is now starting to leak and come apart at the seams.

 Another surprising sign of The Great Turning came from Public Broadcasting’s Bill Moyers, who also broke ground by criticizing President Bush and Vice President Cheney for hiding their war agenda behind the American lapel flag while they spoke words to make war.  Moyers on PBS Now went so far as to pin a flag on his own lapel while passionately stating, “It is time to take back the flag!” To emphasize the hypocrisy of the two, he showed the presidential pair with their American flag pins on their lapels as they demanded the destruction of Iraq. Moyers’ rare harsh criticism, delivered with genuine emotion, demonstrated in the clearest way that he thinks the President is hiding behind his sacred flag while lying about the war!  This too is a sign of The Great Turning.

Another sign of turning came in the words of former President Jimmy Carter on March 9, 2003, in the New York Times, “Just war — or a just war?” Mr. Carter, like this author a former Southern Baptist deacon, exposed the role of certain Christian evangelicals who are enabling and facilitating this cruel and evil war. Mr. Carter summarized his own story as follows:

“As a Christian and as a president who was severely provoked by international crises, I became thoroughly familiar with the principles of a just war, and it is clear that a substantially unilateral attack on Iraq does not meet these standards. This is an almost universal conviction of religious leaders, with the most notable exception of a few spokesmen of the Southern Baptist Convention who are greatly influenced by their commitment to Israel based on Eschatological, or Final Days, Theology.”

POSTSCRIPT 2007: Mr. Carter is now under attack as no former President we can recall.  His detractors center around the State of Israel and its backers, who are furious that he has now written Palestine: Peace not Apartheid, which places the blame for Israel’s daily assassinations and for their gulag wall on them.  The Carter Center’s Jewish adivisors have walked out in mass, a sure sign of the Great Turning. -End P.S. 2007-1

The administration has announced it is operating under a plan of which the press claimed it was not informed.  On the March 5^th 2003 ABC Nightline show, a host of former Republican administration appointees led by a grinning William Kristol told viewers that there was a private war plan in place that was authored three years before there was a President George W. Bush.  Nightline‘s anchor, Ted Koppel, stated:

“Back in 1997, a group of Washington heavyweights, almost all of them Neo-Conservatives, formed an organization called The Project for the New American Century.” Koppel continued: “They began formulating a strategy, in this case, a foreign policy strategy, that might bring influence on the administration then in power, or on a new administration that might someday come to power?  Ted Koppel said the push to eliminate Saddam Hussein is “Linked to a willingness to use force to protect vital American interests in the Gulf. The men behind that campaign were such names as Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and Paul Wolfowitz. What was, back in 1997, merely a theory, is now, in 2003, US Policy.” -end quote Koppel.

Koppel told us who runs the Administration’s war plan.  A cabal, it seems, dreamed up that policy before the President was even a candidate and planned to take over Iraq. The obvious question this raises is who is running whom? Perhaps we should ask who the appointer is and who is the appointed? Why would ABC’s Nightline make this amazing disclosure to the American people on the very eve of war? The answer is that ABC is forced to do so by foreign media and Internet competition, which are both a part of The Great Turning.

This author, as director of We Hold These Truths, stated in October 2000, “The Lesser of Two Evils is Still Evil, that Mr. Bush would be a puppet President before he was ever elected: 

“The upcoming Bush Administration is likely to be the most controlled and manipulated administration ever.  Bush, himself, is a competitor for the most incompetent man to ever achieve the presidency.  He is also likely to be a planned one-term president for reasons to be discussed in future editions.   What is vital to discuss is to whom he owes his allegiance.  Unfortunately, Bush’s geopolitical incompetence has nothing to do with his capacity to do evil to our country.  For the more vacant and under-achieving the president, the more malleable he is in the hands of his advisors, and the more dangerous to us.”

“There is nothing incompetent or undecided about Bush’s advisors.  Powerful and ambitious men, most of whom shaped his father’s Gulf War-Making administration, already surround baby Bush. Unfortunately there is absolutely nothing in George W. Bush’s character that suggests he will resist, or even understand the nature of evil he will be asked to pronounce upon those whom they envy and hate.”

Mr. Bush is to be a sacrificial goat (hardly a lamb) for the money powers who made him, and who have controlled him from his undistinguished beginning to ignominious finish.  Bush’s role will be to lead the flock of Americans to a financial slaughter, while he forces bloody mass executions of Palestinians and Iraqis, Muslim and Christian alike.  His job is to maximize the war on Islam; it is the same war that was fueled by his father 12 years before him.

The media Koppels of the world are coming clean at last, but not because they have a choice. We doubt if it is conscience or a concern for fair play that moves the New York Times and Nightline to the truth; it is foreign media and Internet competition that propels them.

PS 2007: Ted Koppel, Bill Moyers, and Dan Rather have all been replaced with younger, less administration critical anchors. Tom Brokaw is also gone.  The Neo-Con control over our media is slightly scarred by not broken, when Bush stayed these critics had to retire, and they did.- End PS 2007-2

What should be our course of resistance?

Even as the bombing begins, The Great Turning is also gaining momentum. President Bush believes he is committed, but his Israeli-patriot bosses know no commitment to anyone. Their plans are being exposed as they blackmail nations and openly connive to make war against other Islamic governments. Unlike Mr. Bush who is hurdling headlong, his handlers probably have alternative plans to consider. They will weigh the risk to themselves. They can and will change directions any time it suits them. They are capable of deferring to another plan we do not yet contemplate at any time it is in their interest to do so.

President Bush is fully capable of carrying out the bloodiest annihilation in US history.  If he carpet-bombs the people of Iraq he will be blamed for genocide to cover for his bosses. The Judas goat may become a scapegoat. George W. Bush is about to massacre the Iraqi people without even knowing he is on the way to his own political suicide. Only a man with limited vision and intellect, a true political pawn, would murder the people of Iraq in front of a hostile world -press knowing he has no allies, no world support, and no excuse that will stand up to historical scrutiny.

We Hold These Truths started Operation Strait Gate in order to expose the false doctrine in the churches and Christian institutions that have fallen for what Ariel Sharon calls “Christian-Zionism.”  We will continue to expose the bloody hands of evangelical churches’ leaders and their terrible part in enabling the imprisonment and destruction of the Iraqi and Palestinian peoples.

No alternative could be worse than a continuation of our national indifference to death.   Serial war plans aimed at the entire Muslim world are complete and will be enthusiastically supported by the Christian-Zionist churches.  No matter what hardship it may bring to us temporarily, The Turning allows us to consider a return to Godly reality.  Let us rejoice.  There is new hope that a collection of new allies will join in The Great Turning is starting inside the churches.
