From Mark in New Zealand:
On the Church Steps of the Cathedral This Past Sunday.
I took part in this on church property and handed out literature etc. There was no opposition from any church members. Many members signed petitions and agreed to send letters etc. The difference between the US and NZ is that the NZ government has openly condemned the war so the church merely has to go along with the government here. Being anti-war on church property here is much easier than being anti-war on the property of many US churches.
The US recently sent over a diplomat by the name of John Bolton to meet with the NZ foreign minister Phil Goff to drum-up war support for the US. Phil Goff has declined to go along with John Bolton s agenda. In the Sunday Star Times, the headline read “DOVISH NZ TELLS US SUPER-HAWK WE WON T COME TO YOUR WAR PARTY”. The New Zealanders still remember very negatively, the sending of Henry Cabot Lodge here by LBJ to gain NZ support for the Viet Nam War. NZ fell for it and sent troops to Vietnam at the request of Henry Cabot Lodge and the US. NZ remembers this fiasco and does not want to fall for US deceit again.
Whatever involvement the US undertakes in Iraq, it will not profit the US citizen in any way. This will be revealed later. This “war” can be used (even after it is over) as a tool to expose the dispensationalist agenda that supported the coming fiasco.
