Bernando LaPallo came to the United States from Brazil at the age of six. A few months before his passing, to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ, we honored him at a raw vegan potluck/birthday party. What kind of gift do you give to a 114 year old man? We at We Hold These Truths believe that you’re never to old to learn something new and important. So, we gave Bernando a copy of the inspiring documentary, “Al Helm: Martin Luther King in Palestine.”

Included in the video, is the 2 1/2 minute trailer for “Al Helm…” (a crash course on the Israel/Palestine conflict). “Al Helm: Martin Luther King in Palestine” is about a black American, Christian choir that accompanies a Palestinian theater troupe to perform in a play about Dr. Martin Luther King, in which Dr. King is played by a Palestinian. The play was performed in several cities in the West Bank of Palestine. None of the choir members had been to Israel before; their first hand experiences in Palestine opened their eyes to the brutal nature of the Israeli occupation that Palestinians live under.
Racism has no place in the hearts of anyone, especially Christians. Sadly, millions of Evangelical Christians are blinded by “theological racism.” Over 40 million American Christians have been influenced by “zionized” Christian doctrine that says that modern Israel is the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy, and that today’s Jews are entitled to the land they are occupying, with no regard for the indigenous Palestinians living there. This notion implies that God is a racist and a real estate agent, and that He condones “theological racism.” Traditional Christians reject this because they know that God welcomes all to follow Christ. [Galatians 3: 16 Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one, “And to your offspring,” who is Christ…28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave[a] nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.]
