Bishop, Thomas Olmsted
United for Life 2004 Annual Pro-Life
Commemoration & Rally
Steele Park, Phoenix, Arizona

Dear: Bishop Olmsted

Project Strait Gate will lead a peaceful demonstration at your rally Sunday afternoon. We are Pro-life in every sense of the word.  Our organization has been a sponsor of this event in prior years.  Our leaders are among those who have engaged in every possible pro-life activity.  We are grateful to those of you who are working sacrificially for the lives of all children, born and unborn, without consideration of race or religion.

Our purpose today is to influence fellow Christ-followers to oppose successive slaughter in the Mideast and to recognize the effect these acts of deliberate annihilation have on the morals of our own people.  Americans are now among the victims of the war almost every day.  But even when none of ?ours? are killed, they are being fashioned into assassins and brutal occupiers, which is not what most Christ-followers should desire for their children.

Abortion was legitimatized in America on the very heels of the Vietnamese war.  That war cost the lives of 60,000 Americans and scarred untold numbers.  Most of those sons were conscripted against their will and were caused to be participants in the genocide of literally millions of Southeast Asian non-combatants.  As with abortion, the saddest victims were mothers and children.

We should not have been surprised that the same attitude toward human life that pervades our Serial Wars also brought on a movement to legitimize abortion in 1973.  If we teach our children to extinguish human life by the millions with, why would we expect them to think twice about extinguishing an inconvenient unborn child?

Many leaders say they are Pro-Life,  but paradoxically support the bombing of Iraq, the brutal occupation of Iraq, and the related occupation of neighboring Palestine by Israeli military, using US money and weapons.  The tragic politically expedient war in Vietnam should have taught us that one can not be both pro-life and Pro-war.  To this end we quote Bishop John Michael Botean, Romanian Diocese of St. George in Canton, Ohio, who spoke out against the bombing of Iraq beforehand:

?any direct participation and support of this war against the people of Iraq is objectively grave evil, a matter of mortal sin. Beyond a reasonable doubt this war is morally incompatible with the Person and Way of Jesus Christ.?

Leaders of the Pro-Life movement we have a special responsibility to truth.  If the drummer beats an irregular cadence, the marchers can not follow, and the parade will dwindle, and fall to disorder.  The inconsistency of Christian leaders, politicians in both parties, and the media, who support bi-partisan Serial Wars, and at the same time claim to oppose abortion is without a doubt the major reason the Pro- life movement has not claimed victory.   Each of us who fail to recognize the relationship between Serial Wars and Abortion has the blood of the innocent on our hands.

Toward the strait gate,
