Alwaght News reported: Catholic Leader went on a one-day hunger strike on Saturday in solidarity with over 1,500 Palestinian prisoners, who have staged an open-ended hunger strike in Israeli jails in protest at the administrative detention policy and harsh prison conditions. Rev. Gregory III Laham, 83, is the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, and Alexandria and al-Quds (Jerusalem) (Sunday May 7).
Editor CEC notes that protests against the Israel’s treatment of the hunger strikers are gaining support even in Israel’s press and medical establishment, where Jewish doctors are refusing to force feed protesters, usually with feeding tubes jammed down the nostril of the resisting prisoners, a from of torture, doctors have observed. As a result, Israel has admitted to importing foreign doctors to do it.
More astonishing then Israel’s brutal treatment of over 6000 prisoners held without charge, is the fact that to this date we can not find one mainline US Media source that has carried full stories about the strike, the forced feeding, or the resistance to it by Catholic Pontiff Gregory III Laham, nor can we find coverage of the City of Dublin’s flying the Palestinian Flag over its City Hall in sympathy. The Irish have reason to know occupation when the see it! The flag story made the Times of Israel, when not the New York Times?
