The Reason for This Picket:
Scottsdale Bible Church is enabling an un-Christ-like, anti-Islam agenda. The Church’s facility will be used by Walid Shoebat, whose program masquerades as a Commemorative Memorial Service for Day/911. His books sell the idea that Muslims hate Christians.
Shoebat pretends to be a reformed bank-bombing, Arab Terrorist, in spite of his admission that he left Palestine for the USA with his American mother at age 16; the leaders of Scottsdale Bible Church have been informed but refused to cancel the event. Shoebat has been discredited and exposed by many, including the New York Times and Jerusalem Post. The Post feature in May 2008, concludes:
“If the Bank Leumi bombing claim is unfounded, it is unclear why Shoebat would have wanted to manufacture a terrorist past. True or not, however, it has plainly brought him some prominence and provided him with a means to speak in favor of Israel and be paid for doing so.”
All faiths are invited and are expected. We call for this church to return to the teachings of Jesus Christ, “Blessed are the Peacemakers”, and “Love your Brother, even your Enemy.” We invite dialogue with Church members.
