We have witnessed a strange and ghoulish celebration of the first anniversary of the secret execution and disposal of all physical remains of Osama bin Laden.  Consider for a moment what you are not seeing on CBS, Fox News, or CNN.

First, we can not know what Bin Laden looked like because we have been deprived of all images taken at the execution.  So far most of the news stories paste in old photos of a young, vital healthy, man, nothing like what a sick and aged Bin Laden would have looked like.  Our leaders had an image to kill.  We can be quite sure the Navy Seals were sent to assassinate an old and possibly decrepit man with an incurable health problem.  Indeed, but that is, if we believe these now dribbled out writings, released by our own military establishment, there is no way to know if Bin Laden was even present at his execution.  Fox News has gone so far as to show a healthy photo of someone else. *

We are also supposed to believe the unsupported myth that Obama put a hit out on our noble President.  That would seem to justify killing him without mercy…or would it?  So  far, we have not read he did this in any of the published letters.  To the contrary, Bin Laden seems not to object to a subordinate who would like to kill General David Petraeus, but why not, that is just war.   All soldiers and revolutionaries try their best to kill the Generals. Being a general makes one a target.  But we are supposed to believe it was cricket to assassinate Bin Laden, even though it seems obvious he could have been captured, because he wanted to kill President Obama.  But it seems this is not so.  To the contrary, the first published letter, seemingly written to one of Bin Laden\’s subordinates, hardly constitutes a plan to kill anyone.  I can\’t imagine anyone in battle who does not discuss the potential impact of killing the enemy leaders.   In the English translation given to us by the Army, published on May 3, 2012, Yahoos News quotes Bin Laden as follows:

"Obama is the head of infidelity and killing him automatically will make [Vice President Joe] Biden take over the presidency for the remainder of the term, as it is the norm over there," bin Laden wrote in a letter to one of his top lieutenants. "Biden is totally unprepared for that post, which will lead the U.S. into a crisis.  As for Petraeus, he is the man of the hour in this last year of the war, and killing him would alter the war\’s path."

Bin Laden was most patient in explaining to his subordinate.  Joe Biden\’s incompetence is not the only thing Bin Laden had right.  Al-Qaeda\’s analysis of the US news media spokesman, Adam Gadahn wrote in the January 2011 about the lack of objectivity of the of the US press:   "From the professional point of view, they (major networks) are all on one level—except [Fox News] channel which falls into the abyss as you know, and lacks neutrality too."  "As for Fox News," he added, "let her die in her anger."

How wrong was Bin Laden?  Yesterday the London Guardian reported: "An ethics watchdog group is calling on the FCC to revoke Fox\’s broadcasting licenses in the wake of the bombshell phone hacking report released on Tuesday." The Guardian reports that Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics (Crew) has written to FCC chairman Julius Genachowski asking that he withdraw Rupert Murdoch\’s licenses on the grounds of character. The news comes one day after Parliament came to a damning verdict about Murdoch\’s handling of the long-running phone hacking scandal at News Corp. Perhaps Fox New will die in its corruption.  We agee with Ben Laden on that one.

Regardless of all the distortion of the Obama letters that will no doubt continue (The USA is translating from Arabic) the Bin laden Papers are already revealing a highly developed and detailed mind, even if in the body of a tired and sick man,  with a firm belief in God, and a tone of moderation that is anything but like the maniac we are supposed to believe Osama bin Laden was.  We are still waiting to see if anything is  found that will tie him directly to masterminding Day911, which so far Ben Laden has never admitted.  Too bad he could not be questioned about it.

The anniversary of the mafia style demise of bin Laden causes me to reproduce the conclusion our own account of how justice should have followed, but did not, after that terrible Day911.

"Already our ignoble Congressmen are calling for escalation of the war against the innocent population of yet-to-be-named Arab countries. They are only waiting for a few scraps of proof that Arabs were involved. The news talk is already turning to retaliation. But this will not end the matter; it will only make it worse. It will also work to hide the crimes of our political leaders who brought this terrible retribution on an unfortunate and unsuspecting America on Day911."

"There is one simple, conclusive way to end acts of war against our civilian population (wrongly called "terrorism"). We must end our own acts of war against Arab populations, and, for that matter, against all other people who are not our immediate concern. We cannot do this without stopping all aid of any kind to Israel, Egypt and any other countries. And if financial aid is being given to the Palestine Liberation Army (PLO) or any other Arab group, this too, must be stopped."

"If Americans were involved in the bombings on Day911, there are legal means to deal with them, and this should be done. But continuing to kill and starve the mothers and children of Arabs in other countries, as our government has done in the past, will simply convince the world that they are correct about the great bully, and insure that Americans will again have to pay for the evil acts of our government."

How wrong were we 11 years ago?  In out next issue we will examine the economic cost of Day 911.
