In this Open Letter To Christians No. 2,Dr. Ginn approaches the question of how a contemporary Christian view of the Middle East is inciting race hatredÂ… ED.
Internet Tales About Islam
Charles E. Carlson Nov 1, 2001
Recently a friend forwarded a lengthy anonymous treatise on Islam titled "A Call to Muslims." We have found the Internet overflowing with similar material since Day911. Most stories seem to be bent on convincing us Islam is equated to terrorism and war. As an organization, We Hold These tries to judge the veracity of popular themes that are going around and influencing large numbers, including our own friends and readers be they religious or secular. The questions that we will leave open to your consideration have all been broached by the Administration, the mainline media, thousands of churches, and others. It is time for honest answers.
The Captive Boy, Part II

Vengeance, or Justice?
Article Review by Charles E. Carlson Dec 8, 2001
The Human Rights Foundation (HRF), a South African organization that seeks to end wars around the globe, issued a press release on December 5, 2001, entitled "War Crimes in Afghanistan." HRF contends that the government of the United States is guilty of war crimes under the Geneva Convention by its actions in Afghanistan, which they say has and will unnecessarily end a large number of human lives. We Hold These Truths is airing these statements because we believe many of HRF's charges are irrefutable, though we may not know about or agree with all aspects and interpretations of the press release.
Why Watch Pharisees
Charles E. Carlson Dec 24, 2001
What better time than the birthday of Jesus Christ to examine the Pharisees, as He did. Jesus had much to say about this sect that had established control over spiritual life in Judea and was even able to manipulate the leaders of the occupying Roman Legion. The noun Pharisee occurs at least 87 times in the New Testament. They are invariably in conflict with Jesus. However, any use of this word has mostly been eliminated from the teaching of seminaries and pulpits of Americas churches and the professing Christian media.
Kulchur Klash 2002: Part 1. The Church
Charles E. Carlson Jan 16, 2002
A church service or Sunday morning TV evangelist sermon is usually not complete without words to the effect that "our society is crumbling." Our society appears to one of Christ followers but is not; the abundance of churches, the enormous TV Christian budgets, and even the attendance itself are signs not of holiness but of affluence and boredom. If this is true, then the pastor at the pulpit may be right, our society may indeed be crumbling. Most professing Christian leaders are throwing gas on the fire. We must first ask, who within the ranks of those who call themselves Christians are responsible for promoting war, and why do they do it?
John Walker, Traitor? The US Government Has Switched Sides?.Again
Jim Taylor Oct 24, 2002
There is no legal way that John Walker can be tried for treason. He joined the Taliban for purely religious reasons. At the time he joined, the U.S. was not at war with the Taliban or any other faction in Afghanistan. Then a funny thing happened on the way to war. The U. S. suddenly switched sides and began deriding the Taliban and praising the very group our government had despised vehemently, the hated Northern Alliance. I guess one could conclude that it does not pay to be a friend of the USA. It certainly wasn’t John Walker who changed sides. It was the U S. And just because he didn’t also change sides, he is to be punished. How ridiculous! And how illegal to charge him with anything. . He is not guilty of any crimes against the United States of America.
Tourism and Politics from Thebes
Charles E. Carlson Mar 12, 2002
Most of those in the tourist industry do not want to think or talk about Day911 or anything political. It has all but ended American and British visits. Any political talk might risk a big tip or even a job. How do thinking Egyptians on the Nile feel about America? We were treated with only courtesy; however, some evidence of deeply hidden hostility is there.
A Short Walk into the World's Largest Prison
Charles E. Carlson Mar 11, 2002
A half mile long cement and razor wire gauntlet connects Israel to occupied Palestine on the north end of the Gaza Strip. I pulled my bag and carried my backpack from station to station and no one even looked at my luggage. In the 15 or so minutes it took to cross 'no man's land,' not another person or auto crossed the border going either way. I heard about three volleys of small arm's fire, but I was later to learn this was a funeral salute to the Palestinian killed the previous night in the Jabalia Refugee Camp the night before. I was greeted in the Gaza by the sound the funeral. I entered the world's largest prison, one million captured and incarcerated men women and children.
People Against Tanks in Gaza
Charles E. Carlson Mar 14, 2002
People Against Tanks in Gaza By Charles E. Carlson Everyone I met in Israel wanted me to come as a tourist, but no one wanted me to go a place called the Gaza Strip in occupied Palestine.
Witness to Execution in Gaza
Charles E. Carlson Mar 16, 2002
When asked where I was going, I told the cab driver, "to Gaza to see the Palestinians." He responded, "Why do you want to see those animals?"
Life In The Gaza Strip Gulag
Charles E. Carlson Mar 20, 2002
Gaza is a jail. Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn, might have called it a gulag of political prisoners. The Israeli Defense Force can and does cork this jug at will. It pulled that plug for just a moment and allowed me to pass because I have an American passport.
Why War in Gaza
Charles E. Carlson Mar 28, 2002
In this Part V, we will examine why the War for Palestine is no closer to ending now than it was when it began, 54 years ago, and why the American government is financing the Israeli side in its brutal path. Why is America warring against one Islamic country after another? Who can help but notice the common denominator in America’s serial wars; Muslims are dying in almost every war.
Bush's Body Language
Charles E. Carlson Apr 10, 2002
Some have said Bush is giving out weak and uncertain signals to our Israeli allies; others say he is becoming increasingly forceful and did not realize how determined Sharon is to punish the Palestinians. But both statements are false and could not be further from the truth. Sharon is doing exactly what Bush wants done. In this issue we will discuss who the parties to the so-called war really are-and why.
Smart Bombs vs. Intelligent Bombs
Charles E. Carlson May 4, 2002
Israel is justifying its continuing assassination of Palestinian civilians and the destruction of their property on grounds that Palestinian "terrorist" human bombers are intentionally killing innocent Israelis. What if, in fact, the human bombers attack military targets and not civilians...is this still terrorism?
Lobby for Dollars: AIPAC Meeting
Charles E. Carlson May 13, 2002
Up to 450 Israeli patriots, guests and picketers attended the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) meeting at the Scottsdale Arizona Hilton Hotel on Sunday morning, May 5, 2002. The meeting format was decidedly more Israeli than American. AIPAC describes itself on its website as Americas Pro-Israel Lobby and quotes the New York Times in what calls it "The most important organization affecting Americas relationship with Israel."
Answering Critics About the Body Bombers
Charles E. Carlson May 30, 2002
Israel almost never admits to the death of its own military in bombing attacks. Instead, it portrays all bombings as terrorist acts against civilians. While non-military persons are killed in Israel, as in every war, it is clear from the targets chosen that the Intelligent Bombs targeted concentrations of vulnerable military personnel in the vast majority of the 61 raids we studied.
The Embarrassing Abuse of Women in Israel
Charles E. Carlson Jun 7, 2002
Israel is covering up the unavoidable statistical fact that, among the dead "soldiers," there have to have been some female soldiers, who have been placed in battle conditions along with the males. The Israeli propaganda machine, which we have dubbed the Ministry of Truth (MOT), is showing its true colors by not telling us how many of those soldiers killed were women.
Liar, Liar! The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Charles E. Carlson Jun 21, 2002
Palestinian Intelligent Bombs (suiside bombers) target buses because that is where they are most likely to hit military personnel.
The Cause of the Conflict Part 1: Fixing Blame
Charles E. Carlson Jul 7, 2002
The "Stand for Israel" campaign is a hate group pitting Christians against Muslims and led by Israeli Patriots. The Southern Baptist Convention is for Israel and against Islam. Our source is the Christian leaders own words.
The Cost of War
By Editor Jul 17, 2002
Some Americans now see their IRAs melt away in the stock market while the costs of groceries, postage, taxes, and just about everything else, escalates. Perhaps it is time to examine if the "War on Terrorism," is the bargain we were told, and what alternatives are available.
Lieberman for President (in 2004)
Charles E. Carlson Aug 4, 2002
This is the exact article, Lieberman For President (IN 2004), that was published in August 1999, three months before the election. Mr. Bush's warmaking popularity is beginning to fizzle. His destiny to be a one term president becomes more apparent, and deservedly so.
Cause of the Conflict- Part II, The Middle East
Charles E. Carlson Aug 7, 2002
The World Zionist Movement, as its Jewish founders called themselves, had plans to acquire a homeland for all Jews worldwide, even though most were far from homeless, and many did not want another home. Not any land would do. World Zionists wanted a specific property that American Christians called "the Holy Land."
Permit Me To Speak Boldly To A Fellow Believer
Charles E. Carlson Aug 28, 2002
An original private letter first circulated on December 26, 1990, among this author’s professing Christian friends, including Deacons of a large Baptist church, on the eve of Operation Desert Storm, the first Bush Gulf War.
War Against Iraq and Your IRA
Charles E. Carlson Aug 10, 2002
What about your IRA? If it is not down substantially since day 911 you are lucky. War has been made to sounds patriotic, but how much more of this good deal can Americans stand?
Take A Stand

Introducing Project Strait Gate
By Editor Nov 11, 2002
Eleven conservatively dressed protesters stood silently along the busy boulevard in front of the fashionable First Southern Baptist Church of Scottsdale, Arizona on Sunday morning November 10th. They were demonstrating opposition to the Southern Baptist Convention's policy on War in the Mideast. Each protester held a prominent sign, some marking the five parking lot entrances offering complementary literature where members arrived and departed. This may not be the first anti-war protest held at a church, but the sponsors assert it will not be the last.
Bush Disciplines Supporters
By Editor Nov 19, 2002
The Bush administration has finally displayed embarrassment over the hate-filled rhetoric spewing from the so-called Evangelical Christian Right (ECR).

The American Church Under The Israeli Flag
By Editor Dec 20, 2002
Project Strait Gate visits only churches that do not oppose war with Iraq or Palestine. Usually these polices have been publicly proclaimed either in literature or from the pulpit, but sometimes the information comes from structured hierarchy, such as the Southern Baptist Convention.
