German TV, ADR's program, Panorama, aired in 2009 is a must see documentary that talks about the "radical Christians" in America who helped George Bush become President.  According to Panorama there are millions of "fundamental fanatics" in America.  What this program reveals are the traits of "Judeo-Christians" (sometimes known as Christian Zionists or dispensationalists).  The piece is in German but has English subtitles.  See for yourself at"  http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x38paw_christian-missionaries-in-iraq-pano

Israel: Attacks on New Israel Fund, Critical Groups, Threaten Civil Society
Human Rights Watch  Feb 08, 2010
Editor:  It looks like Israeli's who do not agree with the policies of their government may be in jeopardy. The most recent attacks center on the New Israel Fund (NIF), which supports a wide range of Israeli civil rights and social welfare organizations, including some that provided information to the United Nations fact-finding mission under Justice Richard Goldstone that investigated abuses by both sides in last year's Gaza conflict.  http://www.commondreams.org/newswire/2010/02/08

Judaized Christianity is a Front for New World Order 1956
Henry Makow.com  Feb 08, 2010
"Darby and the Plymouth Brethren brought a Jewish Christianity to America. Masons Rutherford and Russell started Jehovah Witnesses' Judaism which is now worldwide with their message of the divine kingdom. Mason Joseph Smith started Mormon Judaism with its Jewish teaching of millennialism."---"At the turn of the twentieth century there appeared the Scofield Bible with a Jewish interpretation of the prophecies. With wide use of this "helpful" aid, all the American churches have silently become synagogues. We now have Baptist Jews, Methodist Jews, Church of God Jews, apostate Catholic Jews, and many Protestant Jews throughout America. We are aliens in our own country because of false religion. ---Senator Josepah McCarthy (1908-1957)

10 Boats to Take Aid to Gaza in Spring
  Feb 05, 2010
Mr. Bulent Yildirim, chairman of the IHH said, “We sail in the spring to Gaza, and our last port is freedom; freedom for the 1.5 million Palestinians denied the right to rebuild their society. We will never stop sailing until Israel’s siege is lifted.” Two cargo ships will be part of the flotilla, one donated by the Malaysia-based Perdana Foundation and one from IHH. Both will be laden with building supplies, generators and educational materials that Israel prohibits from entering Gaza since their brutal attack on the civilian population a year ago. The many passenger boats accompanying the cargo ships will carry members of Parliament from countries around the world as well as high-profile journalists and human rights workers.

Surveying the Muslim World
Pew Global Attatude Project  Feb 04, 2010
The image of the United States has improved markedly in most parts of the world reflecting global confidence in Barack Obama. In many countries, opinions of the U.S. are now about as positive as they were at the beginning of the decade before George W. Bush took office.---10 Across predominantly Muslim nations, there is little enthusiasm for the extremist Islamic organizations Hamas and Hezbollah, although there are pockets of support for both groups, especially in the Middle East.

Saving Souls for Less
Chrisitanity Today  Feb 03, 2010
"There's some pretty solid evidence that shows church growth is countercyclical to economic growth," Stetzer told Christianity Today, citing a 2007 study by Texas State University economics professor David Beckworth. The "Praying for Recession" study found that the rate of growth in evangelical churches jumped by 50 percent during each recession between 1968 and 2004. By comparison, mainline Protestant churches continued their decline in numbers during recessions, though a bit more slowly. Missions experts emphasize that the most successful form of evangelism—individual Christians sharing their faith—costs nothing.

Israel's Reply to Goldstone Report
Unity Coalition For Israel  Feb 03, 2010
The Goldstone report can be debated on some issues but it can not be refuted.---Unity Coalition for Israel is the godfather of  John Hagee's Christians United for Israel, and is essentially a public relations arm of Israel's government. This is why its propaganda approach tells much about Israel.  One can not understand Israel's war agenda without reading what UCI wants you to believe.  It's sponge in the USA is the Evangelical Christian Right.  ---Not one scintilla of evidence is provided to support Israel's claim that "we didn't do it", or "we did it but we did not mean to", or "it never happened."  These are the standard hallmark lies for Israel.    UCI states:  "For obvious reasons, Israel is a country deeply uncomfortable about criticising its own military. But those who cry "war crime" and seek to paint Israel as a pariah do diplomacy itself a disservice. They make it harder, not easier, for that country to behave as it should. Contrary to the impression some would like to give, Israel is not a rogue state with good PR, content, like Shakespeare's Claudius, to smile and smile and be a villain. It is an accountable, democratic, transparent nation, and fighting to remain one amid challenges that few other nations ever have to face."---"Like any other country, Israel is certainly not perfect and makes mistakes. What is objectionable is when the media and others employ double standards requiring a level of behavior from Israel that is not expected from any other country."

Pakistan School Bombing Kills Students, U.S. Troops (Update2)
Bloomberg News  Feb 03, 2010
As army soldiers squeeze the militants in their former strongholds, the U.S. has stepped up missile attacks in regions along the Afghan border using CIA-operated drone aircraft. The leader of Pakistan’s Taliban movement, Hakimullah Mehsud, was reported killed in one such attack. Pakistan’s government is investigating the claims, which the militants have dismissed as propaganda. Drones fired as many 17 missiles at Taliban targets yesterday, local officials said, killing 18 people.

Goldstone report: Israel and Palestinians respond to UN
BBC  Jan 29, 2010
Editor's comment:  I guess we are to believe that Israel is once again the victim of anti-antisemitism leveled by the Jewish chairman, Judge Richard Goldstone, of the UN commission that wrote the Goldstone Report.  The Israeli defence minister said there was no army as "responsible... moral and accurate...even under impossible conditions," as Israel.  The Palestinian ambassador to the UN said a high-level commission had been set up to investigate war crime claims... Human rights groups such as the Israeli organisation B'tselem have been involved in helping arrange for Gazans to give testimony in the criminal probes. They believe criminal investigations include:  1. Six incidents where civilians carrying white flags were allegedly shot.  2. Six cases of alleged use of human shields.  3. Two alleged uses of flechette shells filled with small darts.  4. The case of the Samouni family, where witnesses say more than 20 people were killed in an attack on house Israeli troops had told them to gather in.  The full story at:  http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/8487301.stm

Israel Must "Roll Back" And End Occupation - Fayyad
Reuters  Feb 02, 2010
Editor: MF:  Is there hope?  I hope so! No more "doublespeak"!  After over 16 years of "peace process" that has yielded little, Palestinians needed to see convincing, concrete signs that new talks would lead to where they want to go.With peace talks frozen for more than a year, Fayyad's attendance was the highest-level public encounter between a Palestinian and Israeli official since September, when Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in New York under U.S. auspices.

Drones and Death: The Israeli Connection
Ed Kinane, Palestine Chronicle  Feb 02, 2010
One might suggest that much of US mainstream media is itself “occupied” by the nation’s highly militarized power structure. Otherwise, why aren’t the nation’s newspapers editorializing against the killer drones that rile up hatred against the US? And that subject US military and intelligence facilities to deadly reprisal? Why doesn’t our media admit that much of the “terrorism” it constantly invokes is blowback from the kind of US policies that deploy hunter/killer drones? Why doesn’t our media point out that those in the chain of command responsible for these extra-judicial executions are war criminals? ---The Heron hunter/killer even has camera-bearing missiles that relay images in real time. This allows a pilot on the ground far away, suddenly realizing that noncombatants are about to be slain, to divert the missile at the last moment. But such capability makes the killing of children and other non-combatants – whether in Gaza, Iraq, Pakistan or Afghanistan -- all the more detestable. No more blaming such “collateral damage” on the “fog of war.” Because the surveillance capability of these killer drones is so remarkable, when obvious noncombatants are targeted, the pilots know exactly what they are doing. This means the chain of command also knows exactly what is being done. ----Because the drone cameras provide live footage of the strike, and since such footage is archived, the circumstances under which the killings occur are well documented. Such evidence needs to be presented to domestic or international war crimes tribunals. Problem is, just as Israel refused to cooperate with the UN’s Goldstone investigation, it refuses to release the footage. If the Human Rights Watch Gaza investigation were somehow flawed, such footage would refute its damning conclusions.

Only an idiot would say Israel has frozen settlement activity
Akiva Eldar - Haaertz  Jan 26, 2010
It really makes one wonder how really sincere the Israeli government is negotiating a piece with the Palestinians when one reads a report like this from a Jewish newspaper.  According to Israeli newspaper, Haaertz:  "Over the weekend, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon pointed at Israel as not only the one responsible for the stagnation in the diplomatic process, but also for the thawing of the freeze on construction in the settlements. Two months after the government decision on November 26 to freeze construction in Jewish settlements for 10 months, you'd have to be blind, an idiot, or a member of the Yesha Council of settlements to use the term "freeze" to describe the real estate situation in Judea and Samaria."  To view the article:  http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1145224.html

Gaza Strip: Hamas government appeals for aid after floods
Albawaba  Jan 22, 2010
ED: MF:  Note that the Israelis opened the flood gates to cause this flood in Gaza. http://cp.whtt.org/index.php?news=2&id=3413   The Hamas government in the Gaza Strip, headed by Ismail Haniyeh, on Tuesday appealed to the international community to save the flood-stricken areas in Gaza Strip and to send urgently needed construction material. Ahmed Al-Kurd, the minister of social affairs, said, according to PIC, that "Gaza Strip was the target of siege then war and now came the floods."

Israel pays 10.5 million dollars for damage to UN Gaza premises
Monsters and Critics, Germany  Jan 22, 2010
ED: MF:  Israel raided UN agencies that gave aid to the Palestinians in Gaza. What if world news watchers had seen Israel raid UN properties in Haiti?  New York - Israel has paid a total of 10.5 million dollars for the damage it caused to UN properties in Gaza Strip during the conflict with Hamas during the 2009 winter.

03:37 01/19/2010 Gaza Flooded after Israel Opens Dam Gates
Press TV  Jan 21, 2010
Because Gaza is located in a low-lying area and the elevation decreases on the way to the Mediterranean Sea, water gushed into the area, flooding two Palestinian villages and displacing a hundred Gazan families. The locals say Israel intentionally caused the floods, the Press TV correspondent said. The waters from the dam, called the Valley of Gaza, flooded houses in Johr al-Deek village, which is southeast of Gaza City, and Nusirat in the eastern part of the territory, where the Al-Nusirat refugee camp is also located.

Why German public schools now teach Islam
ChristianScience Monitor  Jan 21, 2010
Public schools in Germany must offer religion classes, and pilot courses in Islam are now being offered in addition to established programs in Judaism, Catholicism, and Protestantism. ---For decades, Germany did little to help its Muslim minority settle, classifying immigrants from countries such as Turkey as “guest workers.” But Germans are now more willing to view immigration as part of the country’s identity, and not long ago, then-Interior Minister Wolfgang Schäuble said that it was urgent for Germany’s 900,000 Muslim pupils to be granted state-funded religious teaching. “It can be an exemplary way for our society to acknowledge and overcome all the differences that confront us,” Mr. Schäuble said.

Bernanke Seeks to Defuse Criticism Over AIG With Call for Audit
Bloomberg News  Jan 20, 2010
‘Backdoor Bailout’ Representative Darrell Issa of California, the ranking Republican on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform who obtained e-mails showing the New York Fed asked AIG in 2008 to withhold information from public filings, has called federal aid to AIG a “backdoor bailout” of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and other banks. The Fed chairman “seems unapologetic and unrepentant when it comes to the fact that he spent $62 billion of your tax dollars when $15 billion would have probably bought the paper on the street,” Issa said yesterday in a Bloomberg Television interview, referring to the payouts. The New York Fed said the documents it turned over to the committee show that the bank’s actions “assisted AIG in ensuring the accuracy of its disclosures and protected important U.S. taxpayer interests.” The New York Fed reiterated that Timothy F. Geithner, then its president and now Treasury secretary, had no role in or knowledge of the disclosure matters.

Disaster Aid From Gaza to Haiti
presstv.com  Jan 18, 2010
A touching story on PressTV telling about Palestinians in Gaza who are sending aid to the people of Haiti who suffered a horrendous natural disaster.  The disaster in Gaza as is pointed out in the story was manmade.  And, the people of Gaza continue to suffer the consequences of a continuing blockade and denial by Israel to allow materials for reconstruction of the extensive destruction.  To view the story go to:  mms://217.218.67.244/presstv/20100118/OUTPUT_18-32-00-SNG-YOUSEF-GAZA.wmv

Gaza Baptist Church Sustained Bomb Damage by Israelis
Bristol [UK] News  Jan 14, 2010
The Israelis continue their siege on Gaza as revealed in the story entitled, "Bristol Convoy to start return from Gaza".  According to Sakir Yaldrim, the driver for a Viva Palestina convoy truck to bring relief aid to Gaza, "We were shocked by bombing raids on Gaza while we were there. There was one raid during the night and another the next day. We could feel the ground shake from each explosion."  We wonder how many Baptists in the United States know about the damage to the Gaza Baptist Church.  We learn from the article that:  "While in Gaza with the Viva Palestina aid convoy, Monica (Margaret) Jones was able to meet briefly with Isam Farah and Farid Ayad of the Gaza Baptist Church, to present them with a message of friendship from Bristol Quakers...The Baptist church is well known for its practical charities in Gaza to people of all faiths, including a women's organisation and a counselling service.  There are about 70 active members.  The church building sustained bomb damage during the attacks on Gaza last winter."  http://www.jackbristol.com/newscentre/bristols-news/bristol-convoy-start-to-return-from-gaza-3753

U.S. to store $800m in military gear in Israel
Amos Haral - Haaretz  Jan 11, 2010
It's no surprise to hear that the US is increasing its "emergency" military equipment in Israel so it won't run out of war material when it gets trigger happy likge its deadly siege on Gaza a year ago.   The U.S. Army will double the value of emergency military equipment it stockpiles on Israeli soil, and Israel will be allowed to use the U.S. ordnance in the event of a military emergency, according to a report in Monday's issue of the U.S. weekly Defense News...The United States began stockpiling $100 million in military equipment in Israel in 1990, 12 years after it first began storing weapons within the territory of key allies, starting with South Korea. An American defense official told Defense News that the U.S.-Israel agreement reflects the Obama administration's continued commitment to Israel's security and the understanding that changes in U.S. economic conditions and inflation have limited the weapons available to Israel. http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1141745.html

Israel's Crisis
Mondoweiss.net - Philip Weiss  Jan 11, 2010
This is an encouraging report from a Jewish activist, Philip Weiss, who reports, "Just back from Israel/Palestine, the overwhelming sense I carry away is that the present state cannot last. Just how it goes down I have no idea. But conditions are so obviously discriminatory, and the knowledge of these conditions now so widespread– among the Christian pilgrims in my Jerusalem guesthouse, among European leaders, and now too among the Israeli elite and American left–that the situation is reminiscent of the delegitimizing of communism in the 70s and 80s. The period of apartheid struggle that Ehud Olmert warned of two years ago is upon us. So too his warning of possible 'national suicide'...A few weeks back Israeli activist Micha Kurz said that a war had begun between one part of Israeli society and another; and I come home knowing that that war is about to erupt inside American Jewish life. You might say that it has already erupted: J Street’s emergence and all the liberal Zionists in the New York Review of Books attacking the occupation are signs. But we ain’t seen nothing yet. We are on the verge of a Jewish intifada, and about time too."  To see the article:  http://mondoweiss.net/2010/01/the-israel-crisis.html

She asks the prohibited question about the motives of Terrorists, and keeps asking as she receives completenon-responses, until they all just decide to ignore her: Brennan's answer -- they do this because they're Evil and murderous -- is on the same condescending cartoon level as the "They-Hate-us-For-Our-Freedom" tripe we endured for the last eight years.

Is "Angry Evangelism" Another Name for Christian Zionism?
Tom Compton  Jan 11, 2010
We heard the phrase, "The world is rejecting angry evangelicalism" during a sermon from a visitng pastor, Karl Clauson in my evangelical church.  Although, he didn't elaborate on it during his sermon, it got my curiosity in gear.  Right away, I thought "angry evangelicalism" must be a euphemism for "Christian Zionist."  I decided to find out what Karl Clauson meant, so I emailed him.  Find out what I learned at:

One Egyptian dead, Palestinians shot in aid convoy clash on Egypt, Gaza border
CNN  Jan 06, 2010
In a (CNN) news release, organizers said protests between activists and Egyptian security forces broke out Tuesday night when Egyptian authorities at Al-Arish ordered some trucks in the convoy to pass through an Israeli-controlled checkpoint. The activists preferred the goods to be transported via Egypt's Rafah crossing, which sits directly on the border of Gaza. Galloway told Britain's Sky News Wednesday that it was "completely unconscionable" that Egypt would direct 25 percent of the convoy to an Israeli crossing, saying it "would never make it to Gaza." Convoy participants said more than 1,000 security personnel were deployed by Egypt, and that ten members of the convoy were injured, four of them seriously, and seven others arrested. "It is shocking that the Egyptian government is behaving in this way. There can be no justification for preventing this aid, and the people who have worked so hard to provide it, from reaching Gaza," said Betty Hunter, a convoy organizer. EditorCE:  CNN showed its true colors by ending this story, which has nothing to do with Hamas but is about Gazans' suffering, with the typical, pro-Zionsit twist, stating:  "The Islamist group Hamas took control of Gaza in 2007. Since then, the coastal strip of 1.5 million people has been subject to a punishing economic embargo by Israel, which has greatly limited goods coming in and out and increased poverty in the war-torn territory...Israel, the United States and the European Union consider Hamas a terrorist organization."

There's No Business Like Show Business!
From Haaretz  Jan 06, 2010
Haaretz:  "Designed by state-owned Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd., Iron Dome uses small guided missiles to blow up Katyusha-style rockets. Israel plans to station the first working unit outside the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip next year."What is so ironic about this?  It's overkill, as in a popular "too heavy" beer ad, where the girl nails the flower on her date's chest with a staple gun.  Why?  Katyusha rockets do not explode, and only cause damage if they fall on someone!  Gaza rockets have killed only a handful of people, about one a year!  Israel killed six Palestinians on one day in December, 2009.   So, Israel has designed a guided high-explosive missile system to bring down a non-explosive hunk of sewer pipe. And who will all this hardware fall on?  Gazans, I would guess.   It's a publicity stunt and a dupe to explode Israeli missiles in Gaza.

Egyptian police, activists clash over Gaza relief
Middle East Online  Jan 06, 2010
The protests were sparked by an Egyptian decision to allow 139 vehicles to enter Gaza through the Rafah bordering crossing, about 45 kilometres (30 miles) from El-Arish, but requiring a remaining 59 vehicles to pass via Israel. Talks in which Galloway and a delegation of Turkish MPs sought to change the Egyptian's minds proved unsuccessful. Early Wednesday the activists were entrenched in the port surrounded by hundreds of police, one media correspondent said. The convoy of nearly 200 vehicles arrived in the Mediterranean town on Monday after a dispute with Cairo on the route.

A Tale of Two Cities…in Palestine
Yousef Munayyer  Jan 06, 2010
The plight of Palestinians in Gaza has been exacerbated in recent years due to Israeli restrictions on the Strip. This began after the election of a Hamas government in the Palestinian Legislative Elections in 2006 and accelerated in 2007. The immediate Israeli and international response was to cut off funds to the Palestinian Authority (PA). International players dried up aid and the state of Israel froze Palestinian tax revenue, preventing it from reaching the Palestinian governing body. Imports and exports were likewise severely curtailed because of the siege. The Palestinian National Trade and Development Organization, PalTrade, reported that "imports into and exports from the Gaza Strip before the closure in 2007 reached a monthly average of 10,400 and 1,380 truckloads, respectively. This declined to about 2,834 truckloads of imports and no exports after the recent military operations. Immediately after the operations, there was only one isolated instance in which exports of flowers were allowed from the Gaza Strip in March 2009. Some 134 truckloads of cash crops were exported in total between June 2007 and May 2009."

Egyptian Police Assault Humanitarian Relief Convoy to Gaza
International Action Center  Jan 06, 2010
Egyptian security police have launched a brutal, unprovoked assault on the 500-member third Viva Palestina humanitarian relief convoy to Gaza. Dozens of convoy members have been injured and some are reported missing. The 500 convoy members and their 150 vehicles are now in the port of Al Arish, where they are surrounded by 2000 Egyptian riot police. Egypt's action comes only one year after Israel's U.S.-funded massacre of over 1,400 Gaza Palestinians. Viva Palestina, organized by British MP George Galloway, is an effort to break the 42-month-old U.S.-Israeli-Egyptian blockade of Gaza, which is compounding the effect of the massacre. The 500 convoy participants come from many countries, including Britain, Turkey, Syria, Malaysia, Greece, Belgium and the United States. While the convoy has received warm support, solidarity and assistance in very other country through which it has passed, the Egyptian authorities have met it with hostility and brutality, as they also did the 1400-member Gaza Freedom March. Egypt is the second-largest recipient of U.S. military aid after Israel and recently signed a $3.2 billion deal to buy Lockheed Martin F16 fighters from the United States. These are the same warplanes Israel used to destroy homes and schools in Gaza.

Viva Palestina arrives to go into Gaza
Palestine Chronicle  Jan 05, 2010
The ship carrying the 250-vehicle convoy will be unloaded at the port and be transferred to the Gaza Strip via Rafah crossing, according to Egypt's official MENA news agency. According to the report, 528 activists from 17 countries who are onboard the convoy will also travel to Gaza. Five Turkish lawmakers will also join the UK-based convoy on Monday. They are expected to enter Gaza on Tuesday evening and will stay for 24 hours to deliver all humanitarian aids to the Gazan authorities. The convoy, which departed from London on December 6, was scheduled to deliver medical, humanitarian and educational aid to Gazans on December 27. It was, however, forced to return to Syria from the Jordanian port city of Aqaba after Cairo refused to allow it to go through the Red Sea port of Nuweiba — the most direct route. Cairo insisted that the convoy can only enter through the Mediterranean port city of El-Arish.

Reverend Rick Warren's Church Hurt by Bad Economy
Pastor Rick's News & Views  Dec 31, 2009
Editor CE: One of the few constructive results of the ongoing economic death rattle of the American economy will be the de-funding of many mega-church empires that fail to stand for peace.   Saddleback is one we have questioned...let God be the judge of whether it deserves to survive.  Rick Warren will surely survive on the royalties from his empty book about church building.  See our recent story.   ---Warren:  "The cause of our financial shortfall was NOT a management issue but simply by the way Christmas occurred in this year's calendar. After 10 packed Christmas services, and with Christmas Day on Friday, many people were out of town or too tired to come back for weekend services, so the unusually low attendance created an unusually low offering. That is understandable."

Foreign activists in Gaza protest Israeli closures
AP  Dec 31, 2009
Scuffles broke out in Cairo as around 200 activists gathered downtown to protest the decision, with Egyptian police punching and kicking protesters, leaving one with broken ribs, organizers said. "Members of the Gaza Freedom March are being forcibly detained in hotels around (Cairo) as well as violently forced into pens in Tahrir Square by Egyptian police and additional security forces," they said in a statement. The crackdown saw "women being kicked, beaten to the ground and dragged into pens, at least one confirmed account of broken ribs and many left bloody." Witnesses told AFP police had punched several activists in the face.

What Would Jesus Do in Gaza?
Newsweek  Dec 27, 2009
Maybe it seems beside the point, even on the eve of Christmas, to ask ourselves what would Jesus do in the Holy Land today. The narrow confines of Gaza, Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria are places where God's love was long ago supplanted by war for land and ill will among men. It has been a year now since the bloody and fruitless Israeli effort to crush Hamas in what amounts to a massive prison for a million people. Peacemakers in the Middle East are rarely blessed, and often reviled; just ask special envoy George Mitchell. And the truth rarely sets anyone free, as proved most recently by the fact-filled United Nations report by South African Judge Richard Goldstone, which was dissed by Washington and dismissed by Israel.---Obama should use his moral authority, while there's some left, to open the way for peaceful protest in Gaza, instead of allowing Israel and Egypt to shut it down. When the president visited a Boys and Girls Club in snowy Washington the other day, he told the kids that what the birth of baby Jesus "symbolizes for people all around the world is the possibility of peace and people treating each other with respect." It's time Obama worked harder to apply that principle in the part of the world where Baby Jesus was born.

Chinese Premier will Match US Inflation Yuan for Dollar (our title)
From Bloomberg News  Dec 27, 2009
Editor CE: Most of us are stumped by money talk, especially the international currency jargon that we read in Bloomberg Press, The Economist, and Financial Times of London (which is my favorite). Obviously these are publications by people who know a lot, but they speak in a sort of “Pig Latin” that passes a few inches over our heads. ---In this long story, China's number one man made a pithy statement that China “will not allow” its currency to appreciate visa vie the US Dollar. Just what does that mean to you and I? ---In means Amerasian manufacturing jobs will remain in China because prices of its good will remain cheap in the USA. It also means the value of every dollar we think we own will continue to lose its value while we watch. That is why a movie to see Sherlock Holmes costs 50% more than it did three years ago, and it is why everything we cannot do without is going up in price, even as the recession drags on. ---The USA is committed to unlimited money in a vain hope of floating us out of our recession on a flood poured into the big banks, big wars, and most recently big medical interests. It means that China is wise to the racket and has just stated it will print as fast as the US does, buying admittedly declining US Treasury's to keep the Yuan on sickly par with US dilution! This forces lesser countries to inflate also. Theft by international dilution will end when we consumers force it to end.

Bomber Son of Wealthy Nigerian Banker, Living in Posh London Home (our title)
INO Headlines (AP story)  Dec 27, 2009
EditorCE: Every time we hear about a suicide bomber we are expected to conjure an image of a raving Arab, brainwashed to take his own life in pursuit of bizarre religious promises, such as 77 virgins in paradise. Let's not be so naive. But how about the grandfather, an American, who invaded the Holocaust museum, shot a guard and was killed. He had to know he was not coming out alive, a “suicide bomber” by any standard, and he was attacking Israel, not the man he shot. Now we have 23 year old Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, who also does not fit the “mad Arab” profile, but he certainly was a suicide bomber. Umar is a boyish black African, an engineering student who has lots of money. He appears to live in a million dollar apartment in London, probably furnished by a wealthy banker father from Nigeria. It sounds like this airline suicide bomber had a lot to live for, but his bomb was designed to kill an airplane load of Americans at the cost of his own life. ---Robert Pape wrote a revealing book, “Dying to Win: The Strategic Logic of Suicide Terrorism,” is a study of the lives of 315 suicide bombers from a number of societies, Japan to Gaza. ---Pape tells us that few suicide bombers were nuts or maniacs with nothing to live for, nor were they moved by some man's promises of Paradise after life. Most thought their mission over carefully and made up their own minds to sacrifice themselves for a cause they believe to be worth their life. ---When will we get it through our heads that is our Government that created the anger, frustration and desperation that results in the acts of terrorism against us?  These acts are invariably a reaction against war acts by our leaders. More airport procedures and profiles are not the answer. Are we who fly on the path to full body x-ray that peek brazenly through our clothing and body cavity searches, standard in jails? ---Instead let us stop killing people in Iraq and Afghanistan and then see how soon we can go back to relaxing about the guy in the next seat.

Open Letter to President Mubarak from The Gaza Freedom March
SABBAH Report  Dec 26, 2009
We, representing 1,362 individuals from 43 countries arriving in Cairo to participate in the Gaza Freedom March, are pleading to the Egyptians and your reputation for hospitality. We are peacemakers. We have not come to Egypt to create trouble or cause conflict. On the contrary. We have come because we believe that all people — including the Palestinians of Gaza — should have access to the resources they need to live in dignity.

To Whom Does the Land of Palestine Belong?
Pastor Thomas Williamson  Dec 25, 2009
Zionists prefer to rely on the Old Testament, citing Genesis 13:15 where God said to Abraham, "For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever." They construe this verse to teach that a large chunk of the Middle East still belongs to the Jews today, including the ancient lands of Edom and Moab, even though God said in Deuteronomy 2:5, 9 that He would never give those lands to the Jews.

Gaza must be rebuilt now
Jimmy Carter, Dec 19, 2009  Dec 25, 2009
It is time to face the fact that, for the past 30 years, no one nation has been able or willing to break the impasse and induce the disputing parties to comply with international law. We cannot wait any longer. Israel has long argued that it cannot negotiate with terrorists, yet has had an entire year without terrorism and still could not negotiate. President Obama has promised active involvement of the US government, but no formal peace talks have begun and no comprehensive framework for peace has been proposed. Individually and collectively, the world powers must act.

Gaza's Christians Pray They Will Reach Bethlehem
Ma'an News  Dec 22, 2009
As pilgrims from across the world descend on the West Bank city of Bethlehem for Christmas, Palestinian Christians trapped in Gaza are left to pray that they will be allowed to attend this year's celebration.  "Oh Lord of peace, grant our country peace, plant the fruit of love in our hearts and give us freedom ... We want to live like everyone else. We pray in this feast that the Palestinian people would reconcile, the siege would be lifted, and we would be able to go to Bethlehem, the birthplace of our Lord."  These were the prayers sent up by Father George, the pastor of the Latin (Roman Catholic) Church in Gaza. Like 3,000 Gazan Christians, Father George is praying for a permit from the Israeli military to leave Gaza and visit Bethlehem.  He also pointed out that this year Christmas marks the grim one-year anniversary of the Israeli war on Gaza - Operation Cast Lead - which began on 27 December. More than 1,400 Palestinians were killed in the three-week offensive.  To view the story:  http://www.hcef.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=790792637:gazas-christians-pray-theyll-reach-bethlehem&catid=1:news

Gold: On the flip side
Financial Times, Published: December 15, 2009  Dec 24, 2009
Across the world, other retail investors – encouraged by a weak US dollar, the financial crisis and fears that central banks printing money will lead to a spike in inflation – have done the same, overwhelming mints and gold refineries. Demand for 1oz American Eagles, the world’s most popular bullion coin, has been so strong that the US Mint ran out last month after sales hit a 10-year peak. In the first 11 months of the year it sold about 1.19m oz of Eagles, up almost 75 per cent year-on-year. Dealers also report unprecedented demand for small gold bars, particularly in centres such as Zurich that handle rich investors.

Blackwater Eyes Afghan Contractor Surge
Military.com  Dec 21, 2009
As the United States builds up its military presence in Afghanistan, private contractors are flocking there in even greater numbers. And Xe, the company formerly known as Blackwater, is in the hunt to get a share of the new work. According to a report last week from the Congressional Research Service, there were about 64,000 uniformed U.S. troops in Afghanistan in September and 104,101 military contractors -- 62 percent of the Defense Department work force there. The Obama administration's planned deployment of 30,000 more troops in the coming months could require as many as 56,000 more contractors, the report estimated. Xe, the Moyock, N.C.-based private military company, is already on the ground in Afghanistan despite its controversial history in Iraq, and is in the running for additional contracts. US Army Depends on Afghan Security Firm for Protection
The Nation  Dec 18, 2009
At present, according to the Defense Department, there are 104,100 contractors in Afghanistan, most of whom are Afghans. A December report by the Congressional Research Service projects the overall number of contractors in Afghanistan could swell to 160,000 as a result of the surge in US military forces. The surge in contractors will mean that thousands more Afghans will be hired to work at US bases, guard US installations and participate in expanded US training programs. This presents a dangerous challenge for the US military: balancing the need to enlist Afghans in US operations with the risk of blowback or insurgents' infiltration of US bases and other facilities. The shooting of the British soldiers in Helmand and a series of other attacks by supposed US allies have put US forces on guard with their Afghan employees.  To view the article:  http://www.thenation.com/doc/20100104/scahill
